I think my passion for photography, particularly headshot and portrait photography began while working as a professional model many years ago. My entry into that world was rather serendipitous. While working as a “G.O.” at a ClubMed resort teaching sailing for six months, I happened to meet a group of European models who had flown in for two weeks to shoot a fashion catalog. After the lead stylist for the job thought that I should shoot some test images with their group, one of the models sent my images back to his wife in Paris who’s family just happened to run one of the biggest modeling agencies in Paris, the Glamour Agency.
While spending the next eighteen months working throughout Europe in cities such as Paris, Milan, Zurich and Munich, I worked with numerous fashion photographers both in-studio and on-location trying to learn as much as I could as fast as I could. I believe that it was this early experience that taught me the importance of quality lighting and what it can do to an image. I love shooting with off-camera flash. I love what the use of flash and shadow can do to an image. I believe that the quality of an image is defined by the lighting whether it’s a headshot an environmental portrait, or real estate photography.
Fast forward thirty years…It wasn’t until the Fall of 2015 when I finally decided to take the plunge and start my own business. I had been photographing athletes at races for years and knew that it was time based on the feedback that I had always received. In December of 2016, however, things really changed. I spent three days with renowned headshot photographer Peter Hurley in New York City, learning everything I could about his method to producing the best headshots possible.
At the same time I’ve honed my craft shooting headshot and portrait photography, I’ve spent countless hours shooting for dozens of Boston-based real estate professionals to produce the best possible real estate images in the market. Learning the methodology behind the images of architectural photographer Mike Kelley made me want to push even further to deliver images that very few photographers that I’ve come across in the Boston marketplace are willing to produce.
I believe that with my extensive background in headshot and portrait photography, stemming into real estate photography, I understand the attributes that express your journey. Through customization and a finely tuned process, I will develop an understanding of who you are, what needs you have, and what your professional goals are in order to translate that into an image you can’t keep your eyes off of.
What they’re saying…
“Could not have asked for a more professional job than Charlie provided. My headshots were very outdated and not up to par with my recent profile. Charlie setup a great shoot where we took a large number of photos and worked together to select the best shots. His work with lighting and setup were top notch and I had a hard time picking the best shots. His pricing was more than reasonable for the quality of work and I would definitely recommend to others.”Marco MereuFounder / Entrepreneur
“I decided to hire Charlie to shoot my head shots when I saw the transformation he had made with my mother's photographs. Charlie is truly a pleasure to work with. He is easy going and makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera. Charlie has an undeniable talent in photography paired with a unbelievable knack for lighting. A++ for Charlie Abrahams Photography. I can't wait to work with him again in the future!”Alicia LamparelliRealtor at Keller Williams Realty, Inc.
“Charlie is a superb and professional photographer. He worked with me to generate a custom head shot for my social media accounts. He has a great attention to detail for lighting, pose, expression and micro expression. He listened closely to what I wanted to portray in the headshot and went to work to get exactly my request. I would highly recommend Charlie for any photography work you’re doing especially if you need it customized to your needs.”Dan RyderDirector, BISC Global
“"Charlie was recommended through a friend of mine who had worked with him in the past. I had never had headshots taken. I was nervous and had no idea what to expect, it had to be perfect. Prior to our meeting he emailed me a few videos on how to prepare myself for the shoot, this was invaluable as I went knowing what to expect and how to make things as effortless as possible. Charlie is vey professional, patient and an extremely creative artist. The final product exceeded all my expectations. A++ Highly Recommended!"”Bernard DjevalikianRealtor - Lamacchia Realty
“"Really enjoyed working with Charlie for my first professionally done corporate portrait/headshot. As this was my first time working with a pro, I wasn't quite sure what to expect and how to prepare. Charlie took the time to share ideas and spur some joint creativity that allowed us to achieve my stated goal of a portrait that doesn't look like every other business headshot. On the day of the shoot, we scouted out a couple of different locations to nail the environment and lighting. During the shoot, he put me at ease and kept it fun. I could not be more pleased with the final result. I would absolutely recommend Charlie to anyone looking for a great portrait photographer!"”Asif JilaniSenior Account Executive - Slack Technologies
“"I’ve known Charlie Abrahams for many years and he is an outstanding professional. Having worked in real estate in several capacities, Charlie fully understands agents’ needs when it comes to exceptional Boston headshots. It is a pleasure to recommend Charlie."”Merit McIntyrePresident, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in New England
As a collegiate rower and a lifelong endurance athlete that includes multiple Marathon and Ironman finishes, I understand the grit and determination it takes to achieve success and being the best in any given field.
Upon graduating from Boston University I spent six months teaching sailing while working for the Club Med company in Port St. Lucie, FL. While there during a two week stretch I was asked to work along side a group of European models who were staying to shoot a fashion catalog. One thing led to another and a two-year modeling odessy began which would take me throughout Europe signing contracts and working with four different modeling agencies in four different countries beginning w the Glamour Agency in Paris before returning to work for the Zoli Agency in New York City. It was this experience I believe that gave me the love for photography and lighting and what it can do to support the story of an individual by nailing a beautiful headshot, the lifestyle of a portrait subject or the mission of a company.
In December of 2016 I spent three days shooting with world-renowned headshot photographer Peter Hurley which altered my focus in photography to developing a passion for shooting professional headshots and portraits. My photography looks to capture the fire and will in every person who steps in front of his camera.
